Ricardo's
Considered by many as the best restaurant in
Honduras. Located on Avenida 14 de Julio, they have a full bar service,
as well as a great seafood, steak and pasta. Air-conditioned and
outdoor tables. Complete salad bar. They also feature diet sensitive
dishes. Open Monday through Saturday, from 11:00 to 1:30 and 5:30 to
10:00 p.m. English spoken.
Itzama
Located at the luxurious Lodge at Pico Bonito, in a lovely setting with
careful attention to detail and outstanding gourmet food. Service to
non guests is available only with a prior reservation. For reservations
call 440 0389. Lunch and dinner selections vary every day, but you
always have a selection of main courses to choose from. This is a
perfect option for anyone traveling to the Butterfly farm and
serpentarium located within the Lodge’s premises and open to
the public from Wednesday to Sunday.
La Plancha
Steak house with first class service and fully air conditioned. Full
bar service. Open daily for lunch and dinner. One of the best in La
Ceiba.
Expatriates Bar & Grill
Unquestionably one of the favorite spots for the local
English speaking crowd (including me!). Informal, pleasant atmosphere
and great, friendly service in the Naranjal sector of town. Open Monday
to Saturday for dinner from 5 p.m. Projection and Flat screen TVs
carrying major sports events. Free WiFi throughout. Charcoal grilled
dishes are all excellent, and the chicken wings are the best
I’ve had in Honduras! Menu includes great beef and shrimp
dishes, and the best ribs
you will find in La Ceiba. The most complete selection of fine
Honduran cigars can be found here. Kitchen open until 11:30 p.m.

Maxims
At
the Hotel La Quinta. Excellent and fancy dishes in a pleasant
air-conditioned atmosphere. Open daily from 6:30 am to 10:00 p.m.. Full
bar service. Breakfast buffet usually available. Moderate to expensive

Mango Tango
A delightful selection of typical north coast foods, featuring the best
salad bar in town! Owners are bilingual and always on the premises.
Open Wednesday to Sunday for dinner from 5:30 p.m. till late, more so
on weekends. Good local crowd. Full bar service. Located at the Zona
viva. Probably the best restaurant in the zona viva. A good spot to
meet people. The premises have full WiFi service and very affordable
long distance calls! New upper level offers some of the best coffee in
town!
El Guapo's
An establishment catering to families and expats. English and Spanish
spoken. A varied menu which is very reasonably priced includes typical
Honduran dishes. Located right on the beach, to the west of the Quinta
Real Hotel, next to the Snake Bar. Try their very popular pork chop
platter! Groups and families are welcome. Open Tuesday to Sunday,
Tuesday to Thursday for dinner only from 4:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday
from 11:00 a.m. for lunch and dinner and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. for
breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bar offers Karaoke on Fridays &
Saturdays from 9:00 p.m. on. Happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. from
Tuesday to Thursday only. Private events can be arranged on Monday and
Tuesday. Major credit cards accepted.
La Palapa
Although more considered a bar than a restaurant, this establishment
offers a full a la carte menu and deserves to be listed as a
restaurant. Located across the street from the Hotel Quinta Real, in
the zona viva. Open daily except Mondays for dinner. Very lively and
popular with the local crowd, especially late at night on weekends.
Occasionally live music played here.
El Barracon
A new restaurant located right on the “Estero” and
4th Street, Barrio La Isla. Review to follow.
Gallo
Pinto
Another option from the creators of La Plancha Restaurant. A more
affordable version of the same high quality meats and seafood. Full
international bar. Nice, open air setting under a cool champa. Located
across the street from La Plancha. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
Playa Taty's
A new and very nice establishment located right on the beach, on the
opposite end of the block where the Quinta Real Convention Center is
located. Very pleasant beach-side sitting as well as an upper level
terrace. Outstanding food, with a combination of continental cuisine
and local cuisine with an international flair. Specializing in seafood
and USDA meat cuts. Full international bar. Very good service and top
quality food.
Open Wednesday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. Sundays they
close at 8 p.m.
La Champa Kabasa
Now two locations in La Ceiba, their original site at the Garifuna
village of Sambo Creek, a few miles from La Ceiba towards Trujillo,
this quaint restaurant offers spectacular views of the Cayos Cochinos,
as well as a beautiful beach. The second location is within La Ceiba,
Barrio la Isla, 5th Street. Either location provides the same
outstanding food catering to seafood dishes. Complete bar
and good service.
Café Suiza
A delicatessen - café offering Swiss and German specialties.
Located at the main entrance to El Naranjal, on the south side of
Soccer stadium. Open from Tuesday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. till 5:00
p.m. Great prices, a good place to meet Swiss, German and European
people living in Honduras. Owner is a Swiss Expatriate living in
Honduras.
Al Corral
A family oriented restaurant, featuring a variety of charcoal grilled
dishes at very affordable prices. Personal attention provided by owners
who are always on premises. Open for dinner from Monday to Saturday
from 5:30 p.m. till 11:00 p.m.
La Jarra
Specializing in seafood, soups and steaks, this restaurant is located
at the end of the zona viva, and offers good service. Also features a
full bar. Open daily from 11:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. except on Mondays,
when they close at 5:00 p.m.
Cafe Giarre
A delightfully European sidewalk cafe located at the corner of Avenida
San Isidro and 13 street, just below the Posada de Don Giuseppe hotel.
Two distinct atmospheres, an indoor air-conditioned room and a tropical
garden setting on the sidewalk. Expresso, Capuccino and a variety of
other coffee’s are available, as well as Italian specialties,
freshly baked cakes and tropical cocktails. Open daily from 10 a.m. to
11 p.m. except on Sundays, when open from 5:00 p.m. till 11:00 p.m. A
very popular site with the locals.
Coconut
Located in the
heart of the zona viva, across the street from Mango Tango, this
pleasant, typical restaurant offers a nice atmosphere, good food and a
full service international bar. Open daily from 10:00 a.m. till
midnight, sometimes later. They usually have live music on weekends.
Specializing in seafood but their menu offers a little bit of
everything.
Rainbow Village
Located
at the Rainbow Village hotel, very close to the airport, this
restaurant offers lunch and dinner daily, featuring weekly specials. A
very popular meeting place for German expats living in La Ceiba.
English, German and Spanish spoken here. Bar offers a full selection of
international liquors as well as a nice wine list. There is also a nice
pool on the premises that can be used by the restaurant clients.
Pollos El Patio
An establishment located adjacent to the ENEE offices, between Avenida
15 de Septiembre and the beach front avenue in the Colonia Los
Maestros. Featuring rotisserie chicken. Open daily except Mondays.
El Portal
Located at the Hotel El Colonial, this well decorated restaurant is
fully air-conditioned, and is open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.
Offering Honduran as well as continental cuisine, with an emphasis on
Thai cuisine, you will find this a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere
with good service.
Applebee’s
Located at the trendy Megaplaza Mall, this pleasant, air conditioned
restaurant offers all the amenities associated with the franchise. It
is open daily from 11:00 a.m. till at least 10:00 p.m., some days,
especially on weekends their schedule keeps them open until later. Full
bar service. TV screens for sporting events.
Mazapan
Chicken
New chicken fast food outlet located one block from central park. Good
chicken at affordable prices. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
Palace Restaurant
Already A tradition in La Ceiba. Quality Chinese food and an ample
variety of international dishes. Full Bar, air-conditioned. Now located
on 9th street between 14 de Julio and San Isidro Avenues in the

Laura's Bakery
Considered by many as the best bakery in La Ceiba! Fresh home baked products made from natural ingredients with no preservatives added. Try their famous cinnamon rolls, considered the best in Central America! Pies, pastries, French Baguettes and Italian biscotti, as well as a variety of sugar-free breads are all available. Outstanding export quality coffee ground daily provide the best brews in town. Located on 13th street, across the street from Medicentro Clinics, only a block from Expatriates Bar and Grill in a nice air conditioned California style atmosphere. Their phone is 443 1494. A second location at the Megaplaza mall is also convenient. Now offering daily special subs made with their freshly baked baguettes!
La Ponderosa
A new open air establishment open only for dinner. Typical Honduran cuisine and live music have made of it a popular spot for locals. Very much a family restaurant. Only alcoholic beverage served here is beer. Affordable prices and good food, service a bit slow when full. Located on Avenida 14 de Julio. br> Lulo's
One of the most popular spots for local Ceibeños to get a bit of typical Honduran barbequed dishes. Menu only offers grilled pork chops, Ceibeño style with plantains, grilled beef or Chorizo, a local sausage. No alcoholic beverages served. Very affordable. Family owned and operated, with very friendly service and extremely affordable. Open Monday to Saturday from 6:00 p.m. till 11:30 p.m. Located at Avenida 14 de Julio.
El Chapparal
Located on Avenida San Isidro, in the vicinity of Bamer, this very informal establishment offers good food at very affordable prices. Open air setting, they are open only for dinner from Monday to Saturday. Bar service is limited to domestic and imported beers with a maximum of three beers per person.
La Iguana Bar & Grill
Located at the Cocopando Resort, right on the beach. To bet there you must go through the Colonia Ponce and on to the beach. Pleasant, beach front setting where the cool ocean breeze will constantly refresh you. Menu includes seafood dishes such as fish, lobster and shrimp, an outstanding conch soup and a variety of beef dishes. A pleasant, secluded hideout to escape from it all. Full international bar.
Golden Palace Restaurant
One of the most exclusive and elegant atmospheres in La Ceiba, offering a delicious international menu. Specialty is seafood and steaks, plus its traditional Chinese cuisine. Open for lunch and dinner. Full bar. Located on the La Ceiba - Tela highway, colonia El Toronjal. Phone 443-0243.
Cafeteria Cobel
A tradition in La Ceiba. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with good, tasty meals and very reasonable prices. Clean and centrally located, just across the street from the Hotel Principe.
Mixers, Comida Buffet
A buffet cafeteria, located in the Panayotti Comercial Center in the heart of town. Open from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm from Monday to Saturday, serving breakfast and lunch. A variety of fresh fruits drinks and typical Honduran dishes served regularly in a clean hygienic atmosphere.
Chef Guity
A typical seafood / Garifuna style restaurant located right on the beach in the zona viva. Fresh open air champa and nice cool seabreeze make it a pleasant spot even in the hottest of days. Open for lunch and dinner daily except Sundays. Full bar service.
Cric Cric Burger
Hamburgers & submarine sandwiches. Also churrascos (beef steak) chicken and rib dishes. Soft drink and beers. Three locations in town.
Marco Polo Restaurant
A small intimate restaurant with outstanding food at very reasonable prices. Located within the zona viva, almost across the street from the El Dorado building. Full bar service and personal attention. Will prepare special menus if requested with a few hours advance notice. Open daily. The bar here is pleasant and quiet.
Masapan
Fast food self service cafeteria open 24 hours a day!! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Chicken, Italian and Puerto Rican specialties. Also sub sandwiches. An excellent alternative for a quick tasty meal. Without question your best alternative for an after hours bite. Masapan also offers outstanding pastries and fresh baked breads, as well as the largest meeting rooms in the city.
Pizza Hut
Pizza, spaghetti, lasagna etc. Beer and soda. Excellent salad bar. Located in the central park, a second location is across from the main Banco Atlantida building, in the vicinity of the Mega Plaza shopping mall.
Burger King
Next to La Quinta Hotel. Open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. New location across the street from Central Park. Shares commercial space with Church's Chicken.
Wendy’s
Located half a block from downtown, on Avenida San Isidro, just next to Carrion department store.
Autopollos Al Carbon
Located on the highway towards Tela, in the Toronjal district. Excellent chicken and salads in an infomral atmosphere. Take out orders available. One of the few restaurants in La Ceiba that is open 24 hours a day, making it a great alternative for after hours. Soft drinks and beer served.
Church’s Chicken
Air conditioned restaurant across the street from Central Park in La Ceiba. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Shares space with Burger King. Childrens' playgroud on premises.
Popeye's
Cajun cuisine has arrived in full splendor to La Ceiba. Popeye's is located across the street from Burger King, next to the D'antoni Golf Club. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Featuring chicken and seafood.
Kentucky Fried Chicken
The Coronel now services La Ceiba! Located across the Mall on the main La Ceiba to Tela road. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Credit cards accepted. Has drive through service.
Expreso Americano
A 100% Honduran franchise specializing in gourmet hot & frozen coffees. A perfect place to stop and grab that outstanding coffee when your caffeine needs require you to do so. They also have light cookies and frozen lemonades. Mostly to go service, but they also have a couple of tables. Located downtown at the Hotel Paris on Central Park and at the Megaplaza shopping mall. Also an outlet at the Airport.
Paseo Universitario
A branch of the famous Paseo Universitario from Tegucigalpa. They offer "pupusas" stuffed tortillas with quesillo (cheese) and chicharron. Beers and soft drinks. They also have pinchos. They are located on the corner of 1a calle and Av. 14 de Julio. Open for lunch and dinner every day. A good spot for a quick, inexpensive and informal dinner.
Seaview
On the beach at the barrio La Barra district, next to the Cangrejal river mouth. Fresh fish, shrimp and conch. Also pork or beef ribs, as well as fried chicken, hamburgers and sandwiches, and the more typical tajadas con carne. Dance floor. Beer and soft drinks
Restaurante Chabelita
On the main street in the Barrio La Barra district, this restaurant is now even better than before. Open from 10 to 10 seven days a week. Typical Honduran food as well as fresh seafood and good beef dishes. One of the preferred restaurants with the locals!
El Taquito Mexicano
Mexican food, tacos, burritos and the like. Beer and soda served. Outside tables. Located in the Barrio Potreritos, on La Barca Street.
El Principe
Located at the El Principe hotel in downtown La Ceiba. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Brisas del Mar
Located at the Garifuna village of Corozal, a few miles from La Ceiba towards Trujillo, this quaint restaurant offers spectacular views of the Cayos Cochinos, as well as a beautiful beach. Typical and seafood dishes served. Complete bar and good service.
Centro Turistico Sambo Creek
Located in the Garifuna Village of Sambo Creek, this restaurant is right on the beach, with beautiful views of Cayos Cochinos. Full bar service. Open daily from 7:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. Outstanding seafood and local cuisine, as well as regular continental food. If you wish to visit the Hog Keys, Tourist Options, one of the leading local tour operators have tours departing from here.
El Mirador
Located at the Hotel Canadian at Sambo Creek. Fabulous views of the ocean, the Hog Keys, beaches and mountains from this nice spacious restaurant allowing in door or terrace seating. International food with a full service bar at very reasonable rates. Owners are French Canadian and therefore speak French and English.
Helen’s
Located next to the Hotel Canadien on the beach. To get there, take the road east from La Ceiba towards Jutiapa, pass the Sambo Creek detour and about 200 yards after you will notice a sign on the left, take the detour and you will arrive shortly at your destination. Also French Canadian owned and managed. Good food, full international bar and a nice relaxed beach atmosphere. There is a pool on premises which can be used for a nominal fee.
