Comayagua
offers a variety of alternatives that are sure to please most tourists
to the city. Following is our list of recommended establishments:
El
Torito. Without doubt the best steak in town. Located on the
highway between San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, just south of the detour
to Comayagua. Open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and dinner
from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. Full bar service. One of the restaurants in Honduras
where you can count on your meet being cooked just as you ordered it!
Villa
Real. Without doubt the most unique restaurant in the city.
A wise combination of XVth Century charm combined with modern equipment
makes this a very cozy corner in Comayagua, conveniently located almost
behind the cathedral and open daily for lunch and dinner. Also operates
as a convention center with capacity for up to 100 persons. Typical Honduran
and International cuisine and first class service make this the best restaurant
in the city. A pleasant, fully stocked bar, private rooms and a refreshing
garden are a perfect combination that will please all your senses.
Hannemann’s.
Probably the most popular “gringo” restaurant bar in town.
Located on the main boulevard entering town. International food with an
emphasis in Cajun style cuisine. Best stocked bar in town with affordable
prices. Their golden rule, clearly visible in the establishment “be
nice or leave” is observed religiously be clients. US Expat, Shaun
and his Honduran wife, Carolina, are delightful hosts that will make you
feel at home! Over 10 years in business. Open from Wednesday to Monday
from 6:00 p.m. for dinner. Monday night ritual consists on enjoying football
games on TV. A must while in Comayagua.
Mang
Ying. Perhaps the most popular restaurant in the city, offering
Chinese food. Air conditioned room offers the opportunity of escaping
the hot summer days. Open daily from 10 to 10. Fully stocked international
bar.
Turicentro
Villareal. An interesting combination of just about anything
in one location! Pizza and hamburgers, a full international bar, conference
room, a pool and children’s playground all under one roof. Open
seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best pizza in town.
Pool open for a nominal Lps. 25.00 per person.
La
Gota de Limon. A new establishment located almost directly the
Catedral, in the Bellavista Building. Full service bar and restaurant
with nice side views of the lit up cathedral at night. Owner is a Honduran-American
who is fully bilingual. Food offered is typical Honduran including churrascos,
chicken and a variety of pinchos. Bar offers a variety of tropical fruit
and lemon based cocktails. Karaoki bar on weekends. Open daily from 4:00
p.m. till midnight.
Helados
Esquimo. Located in the Herat of Comayagua, right on Central
PArk, between the Catedral and the Municipality building. Open daily from
8 in the morning till 10 at night. A perfect spot for a refreshing ice
cream, cold drink or to satisfy your cravings for sweets. They also have
typical foods in the back patio. Nice setting with table’s right
on the park. Good friendly service and the best ice cream in town.
J&G
Country Bar and Grill. Some of the best seafood and largest burgers
in town! US Expat, Jimmie, a long time Comayagua resident and his wife
are hosts at this restaurant bar, offering good food at very reasonable
prices. Open daily from 5:00 p.m. till midnight. Wednesday, Friday and
Saturday nights are Karaoke nights from 7:30 p.m. on. Weekends they are
open till 2:00 a.m. Local TV sets always have sports events showing.
Casa
Castillo. Located right on central park, in a totally renovated
old house is a new establishment open for lunch and dinner that offers
beef, pork and sausage grilled dishes. Also a variety of ice cream flavors.
No alcoholic beverages sold on premises.
Comida
Rapida Venecia. Cafeteria with buffet style setting. Good, clean
setting and very reasonable prices. Located one block from the central
park. Fresh fruit frescos and bottled softdrinks. Good desserts. Open
Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. till 8:00 p.m.

Food Co Located at the Mega Plaza Mall, at the entrance to town,
this establishment offers a variety of fast foods, such as pizza, chicken
wings, calzone, nachos, fried chicken and cheese fingers. Open daily from
9:30 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Beverages available include beer and softdrinks.
La
Fonda Mexican and Honduran foods. Tacos, fajitas, baleadas, etc.
On Saturday they offer local tamales, called nacatamales and montucas.
Open Monday to Saturday from 10 to 10. Closed on Sundays. Located at the
Centro Comercial Valladolid, Bo Torondon.
Cafeteria
Senorial. Located downtown, almost across the street from Almacenes
Tropigas. Open Monday to Saturday from 7 in the morning till 9:00 p.m.
Charcoal broiled food. Beef, chicken and pork shis ka bobs. A very complete
menu. Full bar service.
El
Portal. Located at the new Santa Maria de Comayagua Hotel on
the highway. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Buffet service for
lunch and dinner, as well as a la carte menu. Open daily from 6:30 a.m.
till 10:00 p.m. They also have a very complete bar.
La
Casita. A new restaurant in town, located across
the street from Wendy’s, la Casita offers broiled dishes, including
beef, chicken and pork. Nice, family style atmosphere with no alcoholic
beverages sold here. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. till 3:00
p.m. and from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Very affordable.
Wendys.
The first US franchise to arrive in Comayagua Wendy’s is located
on the Boulevard Cuarto centenario as you enter town from the main SPS
– Tegucigalpa highway.
Cyber
Fortuna Comayagua. Although more of an entertainment spot than
restaurant, this establishment offers a variety of slot machines and has
become one of the most popular spots in town. Host, Felipe is always on
premises to make sure that you feel at home. Video poker and slot machines.
Located on Ave. Cuarto Centenario, in the Araque Madrid Building. Open
daily from 1:00 p.m. till midnight.
