Restaurants in Coxen Hole

Que Tal Café. A good spot for a quick and simple lunch is the Que Tal Cafeteria, located next to the Casi Todo Bookstore at the exit to Sandy Bay. Deli sandwiches, fresh fruit frescos and home backed cookies will be found here. Open for breakfast and lunch daily except Sunday. Plaza Mar Restaurant. Located at Plaza Mar Mall, above the Petro Sun Gas Station at the western entrance Coxen Hole, this pleasant restaurant offers the best view of Coxen Hole, especially when a cruise ship is in port, since it has a direct view to the dock. International menu includes steaks, seafood and pasta dishes. Full service international bar. Pleasant air conditioned and background music, plus a no smoking policy make of this restaurant a very comfortable place. Manager Mark Bodden is always on premise to insure the best of service and highest quality. Open daily for lunch and dinner from 11:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m.

El Paso. Located at the hotel of the same name, next to the Cayview Hotel, their food specialty is seafood, and although the place looks run down, and their prices are far from inexpensive, they do have very good food. They are closed on Sundays.

Bojangles’. The first fast food franchise on the island, Bojangles offers a variety of fried chicken options and is the one spot where you can truly have a quick meal on the island. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Located adjacent to the PetroSun gas station at the entrance to Coxen Hole.

Pizza Inn. Sharing the building with Bojangles', Pizza Inn is open daily for lunch and dinner and offers pizza and other Italian specialies.

Restaurants in French Harbour

Gio's. Famous for its specialty: the king crab. Open from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. It offers two different atmospheres, an air-conditioned room with a view of the harbour and an over water deck right on the harbour. The deck with a view of the entrance to the harbour provides for a magnificent romantic setting, especially when you are lucky to see the full moon rising over the horizon. The house specialty is king crab, however menu also includes seafood and steaks. The owner's presence on premises gurantees excellent service and full international bar will supply you with your favorite cocktail. Without doubt, one of the better restaurants on the island!

Romeo's. Excellent seafood and Italian specialties. One of the flagship restaurants in Roatan, with many years as a leading entitiy in Roatan. English, Italian and Spanish spoken. Located at Casa Romeo's hotel, with an air-conditioned room as well as an open air deck over the water. Full international bar and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A very pleasant gourmet dining experience. Without doubt a dinning institution on the island.

Loco Gecko Bar & Grill. Located at the Executive Inn Hotel in Mount Pleasant, this outstanding restaurant offers views of the Caribbean and the hotels swimming pool and is refreshingly cool thanks to the cool trade winds that are usually here. Outstanding food, with generous portions provide what is probably the best value on the island. It is without doubt a favorite for expats on the island. Seafood, steaks, sandwiches are all available. Full bar service. Open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7:00 a.m till 10:00 p.m.

Restaurant at Palmetto Bay Resort. Located on the islands north shore, opposite from French Harbour, and about a 15 minute drive from this town, this restaurant offers a lovely beachfront setting between coconut trees and presents a true island paradise setting. To get there; take the road to Palmetto Bay Plantation. This restaurant offers the best of Island style cooking made with the freshest seafood, by the most outstanding local island cooks and using only the highest quality ingredients. This is without doubt the finest first class island restaurant on Roatan. Open daily for lunch and dinner offering live music by Bobby Reiman on Friday nights, when you can enjoy a $10.00 USA all you can eat Honduran buffet.

Roatan Dive and Yacht Club. The yacht club has been totally renovated and its restaurant offers outstanding food. Perhaps even more outstanding than the total renovation undergone, is the fact that this small and intimate resort immediately retook its place as the get together spot on the island. This is where locals, expats and tourists meet and mingle, it is the best spot on the island to find everyone and anyone. In addition, the international chef prepares some of the best food in Honduras. A pleasant outdoor veranda with a view to the yacht club and pool, and a very cozy indoor setting offers the alternative to meet your specific mood. Menu offers international cuisine as well as pizza. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Full international bar. Definetely a must during your stay in Roatan.

Cravin’s. Located at French Harbour, next to John Edwards Real Estate office, with ample parking area and pleasant modern airconditioned room. Fast foods and a variety of seafood dishes. Outstanding desserts. Open Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon till 10:00 p.m.

Casa Marta. Located in Las Palmas Resort and artisan mall, halfway between French Harbour and Coxen Hole, this beach side restaurant offers the best Cuban food in Honduras. Authentic Cuban cousine featuring the world famous Cuban sandwiches and Cuba's most popular cocktail, the "mojito". Open daily for lunch and dinner from 11:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m.

Bojangles'. Now with a second location on the island, Bojangles offers a variety of fried chicken options and is the one spot where you can truly have a quick meal on the island. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Located at Mcnab Plaza, across the street from the Shell gas station at the entrance to French Harbour.

Pizza Inn. Also with a second location on the island, next to Bojangles at Mcnab Plaza at the entrance to French Harbour. Pizza Inn is open daily for lunch and dinner and offers pizza and other Italian specialies.

Restaurants in Parrot Tree Plantation

The View. Although not really in Parrot Tree, the view is located on the road between French Harbour and Oakridge, almost in front of the entrance to Parrot Tree Plantation. Fantastic view of the Carribbean Sea! Open daily from 10:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. except Sunday and Monday when closing time is at 3:00 p.m. Variety of light seafood dishes, salads and great desserts. Very reasonably priced. Full international bar with a variety of tropical cocktails to choose from. Small artisan champas usually open on the road side of the restaurant offering souvenirs and local handicrafts.

Parrot Tree Coffee House. Located on the waterfront at the Parrot Tree Marina has become a favorite spot for breakfast and lunch. It is open from 7:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday, this air-conditioned coffee house can also serve you in a lovely terrace overlooking the marina. Coffee, bagels, sandwiches and a variety of breakfast and lunch specialties are part of menu!

Restaurants in the Oakridge/Punta Gorda Area

Windsong Bar – Café. Located in the Punta Blanca area, just a mile past the end of the paved road, towards Camp Bay, this pleasant café bar is open Thursday to Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. offering one of the best views of the north shore of Roatan. Menu includes outstanding sandwiches, burgers and fresh grouper and shrimp dishes plus their unique daily specials. Their daily home made bread has created a large following. Bar offers a large selection of liquors and good cold beers. Owners and hosts, Don and Rick are always friendly and provide outstanding service and are probably the best source of local information for tourists on the eastern end of Roatan.

The Reef House offers good dining on a regular basis.

Caribbean Peak Bar. Although this establishment is really a bar and serves only light snacks, it is a good spot to get a feel of the local culture in this part of the island. Loud music blasts from the speakers as early as 10:00 a.m. and at least till midnight, later on weekends. Full bar selection, local disk jockey. Very much a local party spot. Located in a bright yellow shack, almost across the road from the detour off the main road towards Pollytilly.

The Hole in the Wall. Located in Jonesville, with access only by water. Great Sunday BBQ. Full service bar.

Paya Bay

Paya Beach Resort. Paya Bay Resort is a very exclusive restaurant in a very beautiful setting. To get there, you must continue on the dirt road leading east from the Oak Ridge - Punta Gorda detour. The road is in very good condition and driveable in all kinds of weather. The detour is located only a few miles and is very clearly marked. Bring your swim suits, as there is a very pretty uncrowded beach just below the restaurant. Continental cuisine with an island flavor in a very elegant atmosphere and a large terrace overlooking Paya Bay and Beach will be your reward. It is out of the way but definitely worth while.

Restaurants in Sandy Bay

Pizza Mira Bella Napoli. Located on the main road between Sandy Bay and West End, this new establishment offers freshly made pizzas baked in a brick oven heated with fire wood. Owner, and Italian from Naples has brought with him the true secrets that make the best of pizzas. Open daily from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Although they are more set up for take out service than in house eating, they do have roadside tables where you can eat your freshly baked pizza. Probably the best Pizza on the island!

La Bodeguita Italiana. An authentic Italian tratoria offering meals cooked with 100% italian ingredients. Also a variety of wines, and other products of Italy available for purchase. Nice Italian atmosphere. Open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. and Sundays from 6:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. Reservations recommended since the seating space is limited.

Rick's American Cafe. A truly interesting place, located several stories above the parking level entrance, the flight of steps will be rewarded by a spectacular setting and view. Their new, expanded deck offers an even better view of the sunsets and provides for romantic under the stars dining. Owner / host, Drew and his lovely wife will make you feel at home. Outstanding food is without doubt amongst the best in the country. New services include a wine cellar and a cigar humidor where you will be able to select fine wines or outstanding cigars. Adjacent, you will find Roatans first state of the art health club, in a first class, air conditioned environment. Now open for lunch, as well as dinner, their schedule is Wednesday to Sunday from 11a.m. till 10 p.m. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Satellite dish and TV offers major sporting events regularly.

Casablanca Restaurant. Located just off the road between Coxen Hole and Sandy Bay, this pleasant restaurant is open for dinner Wednesday to Monday from 4:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. Menu includes a nice selection of steaks, lobster and shrimp. Owners are usually on premises providing good friendly service.

Dolphin Cafe. The restaurant at the deck in front of the Roatan Museum in Anthony's Key Resort is open Thursday through Tuesday, and offers hamburgers as well as island cuisine. From here, you can enjoy the dolphin shows provided by the Institute of Marine Sciences at the resort.

Tri R Resort. A very pleasant intimate resort with good food at very affordable prices. Open daily for breakfast and dinner. Great Pancakes for breakfast. Homemade tacos, burgers, shrimp and lobster all available for lunch and dinner. Full international bar available.

The Blue Parrot. Located at the Sundancer Villas, in Sandy Bay. Open daily from noon to 9:00 p.m. offering daily specials, great soups and their outstanding Shrimp Kabobs, filet mignon, lobster and surf & turf. Full international bar, which is kept open after the restaurant closes. Nice, friendly staff.
