Night Life In La Ceiba

La Ceiba is famous for its never ending night life. Perhaps its the combination of Latin, Caribbean and afro-antillian influence that gives La Ceiba this very lively facet. Whatever the reason, you should take advantage of this while here. If you don't, you will miss an important part of the every day life in this city. There is a wide array of options for you to enjoy while in La Ceiba. Following is a list of the more popular places that we recommend.

Casinos

Although not a full fledged casino, El Palacio, operating very near La Quinta Hotel offers bingo and slot machines. Open daily from 7:00 p.m. till 4:00 a.m., you can take your chance with lady luck here. They are now on the Burger King Street, towards the Manuel Bonilla School.

Bars

Expatriates
In the Naranjal district, this is a pleasant and low key bar (my favorite) that is frequented by the locals from both La Ceiba as well as the Islands. Open daily except Sundays at 5:00 p.m. till past midnight. Whenever there is an important sporting event back here or back in the USA, you can count on it being shown live on their giant TV screens. Also full service restaurant. Coldest beer in town! A good selection of Honduran hand made cigars is available on premises. Free WiFi throughout. Credit cards accepted. Telephone: 440-1131.

El Guapo’s
Located right on the beach in the Zona Viva, just West of the Quinta Real Hotel. Happy hour 5:30 to 7:30 Tuesday to Thursday only. On Friday & Saturday nights they have karaoke bar from 9 on. Full international bar. Open Tuesday to Sunday.

La Palapa
Probably the most popular bar in town for the younger crowd! Located at the zona viva, just across the street from the Quinta Real Hotel, this bar and restaurant is open daily except Monday from 6:00 p.m. on. Nice music with occasional live music playing on weekends. Complete selection of beers and liquors.

Coconuts
New bar located at the zona viva section of town. Nice two story champa offering both an air conditioned room as well as the open air champa overlooking the street. Also offers full restaurant service. Open daily from noon till past midnite.

Snake Bar
Located right on the beach, this is probably the only real beach bar as such in town. Access is down the same street where Bacalao is. Full international bar. Open daily.

Comrade Bar
Located at the commercial building just across from Hermanitos Charley.

D Lee 2
Located in the heart of the Zona Viva, and offering a combination of bar and disco. The bar is a pleasant open air area overlooking the street. Popular with the local crowd. Full bar service and some of the coldest beer in town. Open nightly till past midnight.

Memories Bar
Located at the La Quinta hotel, Memories offers music, TV. screens and a good selection of domestic and international drinks. Open 7 days a week from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Bar Tropical
Located at the Gran Hotel Paris. A new cool thatched roof has made of this bar a very popular during the early evening. A good place to meet local people in a quiet pleasant drinking environment next to the hotel’s pool.

La Iguana Bar
Located at the Cocopando Resort at the sea. A pleasant, romantic getaway spot where you can enjoy the cool tradewinds, have cold beers or your favorite drink. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. till 10:00 p.m., sometimes later. Also full service restaurant. Happy hour from 4 to 6 every evening.

La Casona
Probably the most popular night spot in La Ceiba. Located on 4th Avenue, Barrio La Isla. Open from 8:00 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday. Karaoke Bar with an ample selection of music and international bar service. They also have a disco on premises for those that would rather dance than sing. Thursday is lady’s night with free entrance for ladies. Entrance fee is Lps 50.00 per person. Small menu available.

Bacalao
Probably the "coolest bar" in town, due to the cool ocean breeze that keeps this place cool in the hottest days of summer. Located at the zona viva, El Bacalao is a very basic bar, that serves cheap beer and is frequented by the local English speaking crowd, both Honduran and foreign. Open daily from noon till late. A juke box with a good selection of music provides the background entertainment. Very basic and right on the street.

Discos
La Casona
La Casona The most popular disco in town, sharing space with the most popular Karaoke Bar in the city. Open Wednesday to Saturday from 8:00 p.m. Airconditioned. Full bar service. Thusday is ladies night. Without doubt the “in” disco bar in town.
