Atolera El Pijazo
An institution in town! This comedor offers typical local food in a quaint rural Honduran setting. Open for breakfast and lunch, you can try local foods such as Atol Chuco, a corn based hot soup with beans or freshly cooked
"pupusas" stuffed with a variety of ingredients that can include beans, chicken, pork, cheese, etc. Located half a block south of the market. Very popular with the local crowd.
Comedor y Pupuseria Mari
Located just next to Atolera El Pijazo. Nice atmosphere in a totally remodeled setting. Great pupusas or empanadas, as well as a selection of basic, typical dishes.
After Hours
Most restaurants are closed by 10:00 p.m. If you find yourself hungry after that hour, your choices are quite limited - best bets are:
Centro de Recreacion Camino Maya
A great spot to enjoy a cold beer and sing a long with the only karaoke in town. Open till 2:00 a.m. on weekends (Friday and Saturday) Entrance fee to disco. Music rocking till closing time. Full bar service including local and international beers. Food available till closing time.
Papa Chango
The new in spot in town. Located across the road from the Centro de Recreacion Camino Maya. Because of it's out of town location, you will find that they are open till 2:00 a.m. regularly. Open Thursday to Sunday. Snacks available.
Chuspi'p Chicken
Only opens at night. Fried chicken plates, great baleadas, empanadas, tacos, beer and soft drinks. Sometimes open till around 1:30.
Spirits and Alcohol
Bar Jaguar Venado
Located in the Marina Hotel. Marimba music Friday and Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Exotic drinks. Open daily till 9:30 P.M.
Xibalba Pub Located at the Camino Maya Hotel, almost on a corner of Central Park, this nice and cozy bar offers a complete selection of national and international cocktails and liquors as well as a sample of local coffees. Nice pleasant atmosphere, as well as quiet, offering a good spot to chat about your days experience in Copan.
Cafe Bar Welchez
Located at the Hotel Marina, right on the corner of central park. Offering a selection of your favorite coffee and outstanding desserts. The upstairs functions as a cigar bar, offering and variety of Honduran Cigars. Full international bar. Open daily from 11:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Without doubt one of the special corners in town.
Via Via
One of the coziest spots in town, offering a full international bar, great music and the opportunity to exchange info with travelers who are always to be seen there. In addition to the bar there is a full service restaurant on premises. Usually closes around midnight. Good friendly staff a great spot for information regarding Honduras and Guatemala.
Wine Bar Cito
A brand new bar located one block south of Central Park, almost adjacent to the Pabellon Maya souvenir shop. Opening daily at 11:00 a.m. and closing around midnight, this pleasant bar offers a selection of wines, as well a full international bar. Light sandwiches are also available. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere.
Twisted Tanya
If you've been to West End, Roatan, you have certainly run into the Twisted Toucan Bar. This establishment is owned by the same persons and offers a unique, if somewhat "twisted" perspective of Copan. A must to enjoy your favorite tropical cocktail, everything from Margaritas to Mojitos, and all served in generous sized cups.
Bar El Arqueologo
Located at the new Posada Real de Copan Hotel. Full service bar in a very cozy atmosphere. Giant TV screen with ESPN and other English TV channels.
Tavos Karaoke Bar
The only karaoke bar in town, offering a very pleasant setting with a full service bar, a nice menu selection and an extensive selection of sing a long options. Open daily. Located at the Centro de Recreacion Camino Maya.
Papa Chango
The newest bar in town, located on the road detour towards Guatemala, just across the street from the Centro De Recreacion Camino Maya. Great music, full selection of cocktails and drinks as well as a limited selection of snacks to bite on. Open Thursday to Sunday. Very popular with the local crowd as well as with tourists. This is the party scene after all the bars in town are forced to close at midnight because of municipal orders.
Licores y Tabaco
Not a bar, but definitely Copan's most complete and best stocked liquor store. Two locations, one at Central Park and the other across the street from La Llama del Bosque Restaurant.
